Mowi Scotland have a broad certification portfolio. We are now looking to recruit a highly motivated Certification Officer for our Technical department. Working to support the Quality Management System, the incumbent will primarily be responsible for driving the implementation, maintenance and retention of external certification throughout Mowi Scotland’s farming business, with key focus on GSSI standards including responsibility for implementation and maintenance of ASC certification and support for our GlobalG.A.P certification. The role will include working in close cooperation with all relevant parts of the business. As part of the role, the successful candidate will be expected to provide onsite auditing and audit support to key operational departments and as such will be expected to travel extensively to our sites across Scotland. The role is based in Fort William and involves working closely with the technical team.
The successful candidate will have an ability to communicate effectively to a high verbal and written standard to a diverse range of people. You will be able to plan, and project manage effectively, are focused on the detail, methodical, and can work to a tight work schedule whilst producing and maintaining a high standard of work. As well as being effective team player, you will be able to work individually, using your own initiative to get the job done.
About the role
This role is a crucial part of our operations and you will work with various departments across the business. The job includes, but is not limited to:
- Responsibility for implementing and maintaining ASC certification across all Mowi Scotland’s sites; and supporting in maintenance of GlobalG.A.P certification across all Mowi Scotland’s sites.
- Providing onsite auditing as part of our combined standards internal auditing program and audit support to key business operational departments;
- Ensuring close cooperation and communication with all relevant parts of the business;
- Ensuring corrective action requests raised at third party audits are closed out in a timely manner and provide regular written and verbal updates on the type, number and actions of corrective actions raised;
- Supporting the business with our wider certification portfolio and internal quality system.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Qualification in an Aquaculture or related subject or experience within Aquaculture is preferable;
- Previous experience of leading audits and/or auditing is advantageous;
- Must be flexible in approach to daily and weekly work schedules, and able to accommodate travel to all Mowi Scotland locations;
- Strong communication skills and computer literacy;
- Attention to detail;
- A methodical / logical and innovative approach to work;
- Ability to work independently.
