Are you a highly motivated individual looking to start or expand your aquaculture career? We are currently looking for a passionate and highly motivated individual to make a difference at the Company’s Seawater site at Cheesebay, situated on North Uist. The role is challenging, but ultimately very rewarding and can lead to a variety of fulfilling career progression opportunities. This post is offered on a full time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will be required to work a two week on / two week off rotational basis.
About the job:
- Leading on feed, control and inspection of fish
- Site housekeeping and maintenance
- Inspection and maintenance of equipment and facilities around the farm
- Identification and reporting of sea lice levels
- Monitoring and maintaining fish health and welfare
- Daily environmental checks
- Boat handling around the farm
- Maintaining high biosecurity levels
- General farm tasks to keep the whole operation running
Ideal candidate:
- The ideal candidate should have an interest in the aquaculture industry and be willing to learn.
- They will be willing to expand their understanding and work hard on the job.
- Experience is desirable, but not essential as training will be provided.
- You will be required to hold, or able to obtain, and retain an ML5 or ENG1 medical certificate.
- Flexible approach to working to meet the demands of the job.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to understand the aims of the site and to support the rest of the team to achieve these.
- Respect for the need for safe working practices.
- Driver's licence is essential. No driving licence? Don’t worry, we can help with the cost of lessons.
