We’re hiring on behalf of a growing, tech-led organisation that’s at the beginning of an exciting new chapter for their data function. With a newly appointed VP of Data at the helm, they’re investing across engineering, analytics, and governance and this role is the first of its kind in the business. This is a greenfield opportunity to build data governance and quality frameworks entirely from the ground up. If you’ve ever wanted the chance to shape your own processes, set the standard for best practice, and genuinely influence how a business treats and uses data – this is it.
What you’ll be doing:
- Designing and implementing the entire data governance strategy from scratch
- Leading the development of data quality standards, profiling, and validation rules
- Working closely with data engineers to embed governance into pipelines (Snowflake & Azure stack)
- Setting up Master Data Management (MDM) processes across key domains
- Managing data lineage, classification, and access governance
- Supporting ongoing data migrations from legacy systems
- Selecting and implementing lightweight governance tooling (e.g. Microsoft Purview or similar)
You’ll be part of a supportive, collaborative data team of seven, with real autonomy to shape the future of how data is trusted, secured, and used across the business.
What we’re looking for:
- 5+ years experience in data governance, data quality or MDM
- Solid understanding of cloud-based platforms (especially Microsoft Azure and Snowflake)
- Practical experience designing or managing data pipelines and migrations
- Skilled in data profiling, metadata management, and compliance (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)
- Comfortable leading initiatives and collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- CDMP or DCAM certification is a bonus, but not essential
Why apply?
- Total ownership of the governance function from day one
- Clear investment in data from the top – new VP, fresh vision, and full leadership support
- Flexible, hybrid working with a modern office in Leeds city centre
- Competitive salary range £55k - £65k with room for growth
If you’re excited by the idea of leading governance and quality in a modern, evolving data environment – we’d love to hear from you.
