  • A supportive, ambitious and highly collaborative team culture The Opportunity We're looking for a talented and inquisitive Plasma Researcher to join our growing Research & Development team in Hull.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a scientist, physicist or engineer who is passionate about solving complex technical challenges and wants to work on genuinely world-changing technology.

Working alongside our Mechanical, Electrical and Test Engineering teams, you will conduct fundamental research, analyse data from our development systems, and help shape the next generation of hydrogen production and carbon management technologies.

You'll be part of a collaborative, fast-paced environment where your work will directly influence product development and commercial deployment.

  • What You'll Be Doing
  • Research, summarise and disseminate information from peer-reviewed journals covering a wide range of research topics.
  • Analyse data produced from our development systems and relate findings to known phenomena.
  • Working closely with the R&D Mechanical, data analysis, Electrical and Test Engineers to evaluate data and solve technical challenges.
  • Develop test regimes to further understanding of the research and data produced.
  • Comply with Hii ROC and plant Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality (HSEQ) procedures.
  • Appreciation for critical key project milestones, schedule, and prioritisation.
  • Drive the product commercialisation activities, FAT and R&D testing program
  • Sharing technical knowledge across our UK and Bulgarian research teams.
  • Producing clear reports, recommendations and technical documentation.
  • Ensuring all activities are conducted in accordance with HSE and quality requirements. We're Interested in People Who Have Essential
  • MEng degree in Physics, Engineering, or a related scientific discipline, plus relevant industry experience.
  • Experience working in a laboratory, test, research or operational environment.
  • Knowledge or prior experience working with plasma technologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work autonomously. Showing good work ethics, a proactive approach and be motivated by a challenge.
  • Experience using Microsoft tools/equivalent, MATLAB, Python, or similar data analysis tools.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex technical information clearly, with status, actions, recommendations, and other technical information with clarity and precision.
  • Strong report writing and data management capabilities.
  • Experience working with general objectives regarding projects and team goals; applying judgment in selecting procedures and techniques that should be applied.

Works collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external customers, stakeholders.
  • Maintain consistent engineering practices, standards, and documentation procedures and reporting systems.
  • Takes appropriate steps to protect and safeguard Hii ROC intellectual property.

Desirable Ph D in Physics, Engineering or a related discipline with 2 years + experience researching and analysing complex systems involving physics and chemistry.

Knowledge of hydrogen technologies, high-voltage systems, pressure vessels, filtration systems, or carbon capture technologies.

Splunk or similar data analysis platform experience.

Researching and understanding complex systems involving physics and chemistry.

Explaining complex systems and findings to technical leads.

Additional language skills, particularly Bulgarian and/or Russian.
