We’re building the AI era’s connected device for families—a new way for households to see, talk, and create experiences together across generations. The physical part of our product, the Hearth, sits above the TV and connects families through shared virtual spaces where they can meet, play, and build together. At the core of those experiences is our shared Imagination Engine, a generative system that turns families’ ideas and voices into playful, shared worlds.
We’re a small, multidisciplinary team designing technology that prioritises creativity over consumption. Now, we’re looking for someone who can help us evolve the imagination layer of our platform and thrive at the intersection of AI, games, and creative systems.
The Role
- We’re looking for a Generative Games Engineer & Designer to take our shared Imagination Engine from prototype to product. This role combines deep technical work—building and architecting the LLM‑based generative engine—with creative experience design.
- You’ll be responsible for how the imagination system works under the hood and for the creative canvas users interact with.
- Help shape the creative direction and tone of the experiences families will have with the Hearth.
- Work closely with the founding team to define how creativity feels in this new medium.
- Design and implement the architecture of our generative engine, working in JavaScript/Node.js, with evaluation and prototyping in other languages.
- Build prompt pipelines, evaluation systems, and model‑driven workflows that power shared family experiences.
- Integrate the imagination engine into a React‑based system, enabling live creative interactions.
- Collaborate with designers and engineers to develop interactive “canvases”, shared creative environments that families can build and play within.
- Use generative AI tools (image, video, sound, or 3D) to design assets and prototypes for new experiences.
As a Person, You…
- Are endlessly curious about what AI can make possible.
- Are both a builder and a designer, happy crossing between logic and creativity.
- Love the idea of creating experiences for families, not individuals.
- Are energised by prototyping, testing wild ideas, learning from them, and iterating fast.
- Care deeply about the aesthetics and emotion of interaction.
- Thrive in small teams, where the boundaries between disciplines disappear.
Your Background Looks Something Like
- Comfort working across both technical and creative domains—from API design to story and visual design.
- Excitement for building systems that are alive, expressive, and fun.
- Strong understanding of prompt engineering, LLM orchestration, and agent frameworks.
- Familiarity with React, or the curiosity to integrate AI systems into frontend experiences.
- Familiarity with generative art tools (Midjourney, Runway, ComfyUI, or similar).
