Role Overview

Aureos are seeking a Senior Project Manager to deliver a key highways scheme at Howden, near Goole, East Riding. As Senior Project Manager you will be required to work from site and lead the project team in the safe delivery of the project, within time and budget and delivering environmental goals of the project. You will oversee project planning, construction, risk management, and team coordination to ensure safe and effective delivery. The role requires deep technical understanding, operational leadership, and client engagement. This is a 12-month contract.

Primary tasks and duties

  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams from start to completion.
  • Drive project performance across HSEW, quality, programme, commercial, and client satisfaction.
  • Manage subcontractors and interfaces across design, utilities, enabling works and main works.
  • Ensure effective planning, reporting, and risk management.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, designers, and stakeholders.
  • Foster a positive culture of collaboration, innovation, and safety.
  • Support commercial teams in managing costs, change, and contractual obligations.
  • Ensuring the teams have the right culture and behaviours, identifying any gaps or weaknesses.
  • Directing, motivating and maintaining a competent, well-trained, flexible and engaged team
  • Manage and maintain the customer relationship during delivery, including change and decision making to effectively manage expectations.
  • Responsible for ensuring the highest standards of Health, Safety and Wellbeing at all times.
  • Building and maintaining strong and effective relationships with the wider stakeholder community and client
  • Monitor and drive weekly progress and liaise with department heads or suppliers to resolve any delays or issues identified, working with the team to mitigate any delay.
  • Maintain records with regards to project performance, budget & activity

Qualifications and Training

  • Essential: Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • 10 + years’ experience within the highway construction sector, including 2 + years’ working at Senior Project Manager role.
  • Strong NEC3/NEC4 knowledge.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and complex construction phases
  • Experience of leading confidently on health, safety and wellbeing matters
  • Be highly organised and able to coordinate a large team of contractors and consultants.
  • Experience of engaging with and influencing senior public stakeholders
  • Demonstrates the right culture and behaviours.
  • Able to demonstrate good collaboration and organisational skills, working with an extensive supply chain of professional and/or technical service providers maintaining good relationships
  • Desirable: Chartered status from a relevant industry body.
