Are you a problem solver and enjoy working with a wide variety of people? Do you have the motivation to proactively advance your own career? Have you ever thought how North Yorkshire’s road networks actually work but never had the opportunity to find out? We are looking for a Network Co-ordinator to join our Street Works Team, this is a fantastic opportunity for self-starters with experience in Highways and Traffic Management and knowledge of current legislation relating to Street Works.

As part of the Street Works Team, you will be based out of County Hall, Northallerton. You will be tasked with the co-ordination of works within the highway and to ensure the associated permitting/noticing is compliant with the relevant legislation and/or code of practice. You will be required to process road closures, when necessary, on behalf of statutory undertakers to ensure safety whilst works take place for both the public and the undertaker, whilst also considering the impact of disruption to the public. You will also ensure requests for network information and correspondence are responded to within the agreed timescales.

What you will bring:

  • You will have an Engineering qualification or equivalent to ONC level.
  • Knowledge and understanding of current highways legislation e.g., Highways Act, New Roads and Street Works Act, Traffic Management Act, and the Road Traffic Regulation Act.
  • Knowledge and experience in the application of Traffic Signs Manual and the Code of Practice – ‘Safety at Street Works and Road Works’.
  • Experience in network co-ordination.
  • Good problem solving and decision-making skills.
