About this opportunity
Westmorland and Furness Council, Highways and Transport service is looking for an experienced, motivated, and friendly individual to join us as Highways Network Officer. We are excited to offer this excellent opportunity for candidates with experience in highways, transportation and construction backgrounds looking to join a large and thriving organisation.
In this role, you will assist in leading the Furness Area Highways team, preparing, designing and processing highway improvement and maintenance projects, as well as undertaking other technical and administrative tasks. This includes carrying out activities relating to surveys, design, specification, and data collection/input.
We are looking for strong communicators, as you will provide technical advice and guidance to colleagues with respect to standards for highways design and maintenance. You will also provide advice on the application of legislation, regulation, policy and principles to both internal and external customers of the Council.
This role is a great opportunity for candidates who have good experience of highway, transportation, or construction design, as well as a sound knowledge of local government and dealing with customers. Awareness of construction contracts, highway maintenance activities and national design standards is also essential. You will be able to work under pressure, and be an effective team member, essentially acting as Assistant Engineer within the Network Team.
