National Highways has an exciting opportunity for an Engineer to join our Lighting team in the North West region. The team is responsible for the asset management of the street lighting within the region, including feeder pillars with the incoming public electricity supply, lighting columns and lanterns, illuminated signs and bollards, and subways via a private cable network.
Within this role you will develop feasibility studies and preliminary designs for improvements and/or renewals, compiling and checking relevant documents, evidence and options for value management, taking into account new techniques, materials, buildability, and costs. You will need to have a full driving licence, with no more than 3 points, to be considered for this position and during employment as you will be required to drive as part of your role.
Activities and resources involved in the identification and evaluation of asset data and needs in order to develop early solutions, in line with agreed methodologies and prioritisation criteria. Identify and prepare briefs to support delivery of survey works that support the improvement and/or renewal of assets. Develop technical briefs provided to external design services contractors for improvement and renewals work. Design of highway renewals and maintenance schemes. Ensure the health and safety needs and wellbeing of customers and employees are fully considered and accounted for throughout the planning and delivery of each service activity.
About you:
- Degree or HND, HNC in relevant discipline and/or appropriate experience, or equivalent.
- Experience in highway construction and delivery methods.
- Proven experience of electrical works, including management, inspection and design of electrical renewal schemes.
- Demonstrable experience in AutoCAD and cable calculation software.
- Good knowledge of CDM 2015.
