Job Description

At National Highways, we’re looking for a Senior Network Planner to provide leadership, subject matter expertise and guidance, assuring the development and delivery of resilience, emergency and severe weather response plans.

You will use your experience to lead the development of relevant processes and procedures, ensuring they adopt best practice, intelligence insights and ad‑hoc changes for maximum customer benefit.

This is a hybrid working role and will be based from our Wakefield office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively analyse the effectiveness of existing plans and arrangements in meeting service level expectations and implement improvement initiatives; manage risks and issues that affect delivery.
  • Provide advice and consultancy to minimise the impact on Operations in the event of an emergency.
  • Develop and recommend best practice methods for ongoing improvement of processes and activities in scope.
  • Proactively liaise with regional Operations colleagues and wider internal and external stakeholders to minimise the impact of planned and unplanned events on customers.
  • Manage Network Resilience funding, identify proposed schemes, liaise with service providers to develop opportunities and prioritise funding aligned to risk.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in contingency and business continuity planning and an understanding of business objectives for resilience.
  • Demonstrable experience of severe weather decision making.
  • Understanding of customer satisfaction drivers.
  • Ability to implement company crisis management procedures and policies.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
