We are currently recruiting for an experienced Project Engineer to be an integral part of the Projects Team. This role will support the Project Director and project team in general project management activities, interface and risk management, and deliver a specific area of the project based on experience. The role will interact with multiple contractors, requiring a great degree of self and time management.

You will be a key member of the project team, responsible for driving the project forward successfully by managing the performance of vendors and other third-party contractors; coordinating between various internal disciplines and reporting back to the Project Director. Exceptional planning, organisation, and communication skills, along with the ability to develop relationships and influence at all levels, are key to this role.

The successful candidate will have a background working within a project delivery environment, preferably within energy storage, process, or electrical power fields, and will have hands-on experience of the entire project life cycle from FEED, project planning, cost estimating, detailed design, risk and change management, delivery, and commissioning to close out and handover. The role will be predominantly based in our central Glasgow office, but visits to the Hunterston site will be expected when the needs of the project require it. The role will develop as the company grows and the Projects department expands, making it suitable for an ambitious person looking to progress their own career.

Requirements

  • Essential:
    • Engineering degree or HND/HNC, mechanical
    • 3-5 years' proven working experience as a Project Engineer
    • Advanced MS Office skills
    • Ability to work with multiple engineering disciplines within projects
    • Project management and supervision skills
    • Decision making ability and leadership skills
    • Time management and organization skills
    • Comfortable working in a growth stage business
  • Desirable:
    • Prince 2 qualification or equivalent
    • Experience within the energy storage, process, or electrical power fields
    • Some knowledge of design and visualisation software such as AutoCAD
    • Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards within UK power generation preferred
    • Working knowledge of Power BI
