Job Summary

We are seeking a proactive and motivated Project Controls Manager to lead diverse teams and deliver project control support within a growing global organisation. The role is critical to successfully delivering the Hunterston Phase 1 project and future projects. The successful candidate will be independent, strategic, communicative and able to prioritise efficiently. Highview Power currently has offices in London and Manchester. This role will focus on the Hunterston project in Ayrshire, Scotland, requiring regular on‐site attendance (minimum 4 days per week during construction).

Core Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Project Managers to complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Manage day‐to‐day cost control; act as Cost Engineer, reporting on all cost matters.
  • Design and implement effective control organisations, ensuring compliance with contractual specifications.
  • Support decision‐making by providing rapid identification of unfavourable trends and initiating corrective actions.
  • Educate the team on schedule, cost, and risk awareness.
  • Integrate scheduling, cost control and risk management functions.
  • Identify resources and organisation required to achieve control strategy; issue a Project Control Plan.
  • Implement the Project Controls System and define the overall work breakdown structure and coding system.
  • Maintain consistent, regularly reviewed schedule and cost forecasts.
  • Specify control requirements to subcontractors and suppliers in RFPs.
  • Prepare Master Schedule, Control Budget and Cash Flow.
  • Coordinate Risk and Opportunity Management Plans.
  • Maintain and assess the Project Controls System, reporting status to the client and internal procedures.
  • Support the Project Manager in key meetings and contract change/claim processes, evaluating impacts on cost and schedule.
  • Issue monthly Project Status Reports and other senior management reports.
  • Contribute to the Project Close‐out Report.
  • Assign duties and coordinate activities of project staff to ensure progress on schedule and within budget.
  • Review status reports and modify schedules or plans as required.
  • Prepare management, client and stakeholder reports.

Experience, Skills & Attributes

  • Engineering or technician qualification.
  • Project management qualification.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience with project controls packages (P6, MS Project, cost control).
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in a Project Controls environment.
  • Track record of delivering projects from inception to financial close and operational stage.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate with credibility to senior management and contractors.
  • Persuasive, networker, and negotiator.
  • Excellent IT skills for reporting project status and issues.

Desirable

  • Degree level education or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in the Energy Storage industry.
