Overview
Support Worker – Young People’s Housing Services. Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, paid £25,857 per annum (base pay). Working at the Hightown Young People’s Services team in Shenleybury, Radlett.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with young people, including separated migrant children, to build skills and confidence for independent living.
- Provide a trauma‑informed approach: understand behaviours, respond with patience and support through their journey.
- Promote independence within supported housing, focusing on life skills rather than personal care.
- Maintain professional boundaries, manage workload independently, and switch off when the day is done.
- Record accurate and timely documentation to keep young people safe.
- Collaborate with other professionals and agencies to deliver the best outcomes.
- Demonstrate empathy, attention to detail, and openness to feedback.
Qualifications & Criteria
- Full UK driving licence with business insurance and access to a vehicle for business use.
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent Children and Young People’s Workforce Diploma, or willingness to complete with support from Hightown.
- Ability to work day shifts (7 am‑3 pm & 2 pm‑10 pm), including weekends and bank holidays.
- Commitment to learning: proactive about training, legislation and continuous development.
- Professional curiosity: not afraid to ask questions and dig deeper when needed.
- Strong record‑keeping, admin skills and confidence in lone working.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
