Housing Officer (Fixed-Term Maternity Cover)

Salary: £41,349 per annum

Location: Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire

Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm

Contract: Fixed-Term Contract (November 2026 to November 2027)

We are looking for an experienced and customer-focused Housing Officer to join our Housing team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering outstanding housing management services while positively impacting the lives of our customers.

About the Role

As a Housing Officer, you will be responsible for managing a patch of properties and delivering a professional, responsive and resident-focused housing management service. You will work closely with customers, colleagues and external partners to sustain tenancies, resolve issues, maintain thriving communities and ensure excellent service delivery across your portfolio.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a portfolio of tenancies from sign-up through to tenancy reviews and ongoing tenancy management.
  • Dealing with tenancy breaches and taking appropriate action where required.
  • Working closely with the Income Recovery team to address rent arrears and support customers in maintaining their tenancies.
  • Responding to and resolving customer enquiries and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Managing cases involving Anti-Social Behaviour and other tenancy-related issues.
  • Working with colleagues to ensure communities and properties are well maintained.
  • Supporting resident engagement and ensuring customers have opportunities to influence services.
  • Building effective partnerships with local authorities and external agencies.
  • Acting as a specialist lead in an area of housing management, providing guidance and support to colleagues.
