As our new Fire Safety Manager, you will play a vital role in protecting our residents and ensuring our homes meet the highest standards of fire safety and compliance.
This is your opportunity to lead our Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) programme, drive essential safety improvements, and help us stay ahead of changing legislation including the Building Safety Act 2022, Fire Safety Act 2021, and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
What You Will Be Doing
- You will take ownership of Hightown’s Fire Risk Assessment programme ensuring FRAs are completed on time, actions are followed through, and our highest-risk homes receive the strongest levels of oversight.
- You will coordinate inspections, surveys, and remedial works, manage contractors and ensure all life-safety projects from fire door and compartmentation work to alarm upgrades are delivered safely, compliantly, and to a high standard.
- Working with warmth and clarity, you will support residents by sharing accessible fire safety information and responding quickly to concerns.
- You will analyse fire safety risks, monitor performance, keep accurate compliance records, and produce clear reports that support informed decisions.
- Collaboration will be central to your success. You will work closely with colleagues across Property, Housing, Asset Management, Compliance and Repairs, and you’ll act as a key point of contact for Fire and Rescue Services.
- You will also help shape and strengthen Hightown’s approach to fire safety improving policies, influencing best practice, and championing continuous improvement across the organisation.
Who We Are Looking For
A confident, experienced fire safety professional who is passionate about resident safety and committed to doing the right thing.
What you need:
- Formal fire safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH Fire, IFE, Fire Risk Assessment certification).
- Strong knowledge of fire safety legislation, including the Building Safety Act, Fire Safety Act, and Fire Safety Order.
- Understanding of fire risk assessment methodologies and fire safety in housing or residential settings.
- Experience managing or coordinating Fire Risk Assessment programmes.
- Experience in housing, property management, building safety, or similar environments.
- Confident managing contractors, tracking remedial actions, and interpreting technical reports.
- Excellent organisation, record-keeping, and programme management skills.
- A proactive, solution-focused approach, with strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A commitment to resident safety, continuous improvement, and Hightown’s values.
