We are looking for a Building Safety and Compliance Officer to join our Asset Management Team.
The Building Safety and Compliance Officer should have a good understanding of the maintenance needs of buildings both from a technical and functional perspectives, as well as an awareness of the health and safety and other statutory requirements relevant to managed occupied residential property.
You must have a minimum of a degree that’s property related, preferably covering building safety and compliance.
The Building Safety and Compliance Officer will assist the Building Safety Lead Manager (BSLM) in all issues relating to building safety on Hightown’s buildings and will need to liaise closely external contractors and surveyors, the property services team, the wider housing management team, the development team and residents as necessary.
The Building Safety and Compliance Officer will assist in ensuring Hightown meets its health and safety and legislative obligations including any requirements from the Building Safety Bill, the Fire Safety Act and any subsequent legislative changes.
Key Responsibilities:
- To assist the compliance team to ensure that they continue to meet targets / KPIs for its statutory obligations for H+S, to include, but not limited to, electrical testing, gas servicing, legionella testing and risk assessment, lifting equipment, PAT, asbestos, automatic gates, playground equipment and fire.
- To help develop and maintain safety cases for higher risk and / or complex buildings ensuring digital records are kept uniform and up to date.
- To assist the BSLM in any liaison with regulatory or enforcement bodies in regards to building or fire safety to include completing any necessary government returns required within published deadlines.
- To assist in producing an accurate digital record of the building system for each of Hightown’s buildings, to include copies of the as-built drawings and plans, the materials used in the construction of the buildings and the construction type of the buildings, e.g. traditional build, timber frame etc.
- To review Hightown’s buildings and carry out any necessary risk assessments to enable Hightown to budget and plan effectively for any works required which do not form part of any building guarantee claim.
It is essential that you hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a car for work purposes.
