The Role
We are currently working on a number of major residential projects across London and are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join an established Irish construction company.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating the design process from pre-construction through to delivery, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards, on programme and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate the design process throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead and manage the design team, consultants and specialist subcontractors.
- Coordinate design information and ensure it is delivered in line with project programmes.
- Liaise closely with the client, design consultants, subcontractors and project teams.
- Review and manage design documentation, drawings and technical submissions.
- Identify and resolve design issues and coordinate solutions with relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant contractual, regulatory, quality and safety requirements.
- Monitor design progress and ensure key milestones are achieved.
- Support the Project Manager and wider project team with technical and design-related matters.
- Manage the design approval process and maintain effective document control.
- Contribute to value engineering and the identification of practical and commercially viable design solutions.
You Will Need
- Degree qualification in Construction, Engineering, Architecture or a related discipline.
- Proven experience working as a Design Manager within the construction industry.
- Strong experience delivering major residential projects.
- Excellent knowledge of the design and construction process.
- Strong technical understanding with the ability to review and interpret drawings and specifications.
- Experience managing design teams, consultants and specialist subcontractors.
- Strong organisational and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of construction programmes.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with relevant design and project management software.
