At Highland Spring Group, we’re proud of what we do, who we are, and the natural-source water we share with our customers. We’re looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our technical team at The Fells. Working as part of the Laboratory team, you’ll carry out microbiological testing, media preparation, sample collection and sample transfer, helping to ensure our products continue to meet quality, safety and regulatory standards.
This role is based at The Fells and involves regular travel to our Blackford laboratory as part of the daily shift pattern. You’ll start your shift at The Fells, collect samples and transport them to Blackford, where you’ll work in the lab during the day before returning to The Fells to complete your shift. Due to the travel required between sites, a full UK driving licence is essential.
What can you expect:
- Microbiological testing of source and finished product water samples
- Testing flavoured waters using approved methods
- Interpreting and reporting results using the Laboratory IT system
- Ensuring samples are tested within required timescales
- Calibrating laboratory equipment and supporting equipment maintenance
- Carrying out confirmation testing, proficiency testing and environmental monitoring
- Reporting out-of-specification results and supporting quarantine procedures
- Monitoring filtration and differential pressures
- Supporting shelf-life testing, laboratory cleaning and HPLC testing where required
About you:
- At least 3 years’ experience in an FMCG laboratory environment
- A full driving licence
- Experience in microbiological testing of water samples
- Knowledge of Natural Mineral Water regulations, membrane filtration techniques and HPLC systems
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
- Strong communication skills and the ability to prioritise work in a busy department
The role follows a continuous shift pattern, rotating between day shift 06:45–19:00 and night shift 18:45–07:00, on a 4 days on, 4 days off, 4 nights on, 4 nights off basis.
