Post Title: Principal Land Surveyor – Housing Development
Location: Highland Council Headquaters/Hybrid Working
Hours: 35 hours per week
Duration: Permanent
Salary: £55,983 – £61,243 p.a. Salary placing will normally be at the first point of the scale.

Job Purpose: Sitting within the Housing and Communities team, this role will focus on identifying and negotiating land and property purchase opportunities in the Highland Area which meet the objectives of the Local Housing Strategy, the Strategic Housing Investment Plan and the Highland Housing Challenge. The post holder will ensure effective governance and implementation across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and work closely with private land agents.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Housing Development team as a Principal Land Surveyor identify and secure the delivery of site and property purchases for future development. This post presents an excellent opportunity for a focused and driven individual to use their existing skills and experience and apply them across the Highlands to secure development sites and buildings to meet both current and future housing needs in both urban and rural areas.

Requirements

Education & Qualifications

  • RICS qualified
  • Evidence of a continuing commitment to personal development.

Essential Attributes

  • Significant experience of securing complex land deals
  • Significant experience of negotiating with landowners and robust knowledge of the legal process for the acquisition of property and rights.
  • Experience of partnership working across the public and private sectors.
  • Experience of leading and managing high performing teams or collaborative partnerships.
  • Driving licence and/or access to personal transport and be willing to be flexible about travel for work and training purposes.
  • Experience of budget/resource management.
