Hydraulic Engineer / Senior Hydraulic Engineer Location: Burton-on-Trent, DE13 0FW, with regular travel to customer sites Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am4:30pm (30-minute unpaid lunch break) Overtime: Additional overtime may be required, including occasional factory shutdowns and larger off-site projects About the Role We are looking for an experienced Hydraulic Engineer / Senior Hydraulic Engineer to join our engineering team, working from our Burton-on-Trent workshop and customer sites across the region. This is a hands-on role involving the maintenance, servicing, installation, fault-finding and repair of hydraulic equipment and systems , as well as the manufacture of new systems and machines, hydraulic cylinder refurbishment, pipe fitting and manipulation. The successful candidate will also provide technical direction and support to other engineers, contribute to the development of new products and services, and help improve engineering processes and working practices. Key Responsibilities Carry out routine maintenance, servicing and breakdown repairs of hydraulic equipment and systems. Install, commission and troubleshoot hydraulic equipment at customer sites. Diagnose faults and provide effective technical solutions. Manufacture new hydraulic systems and machinery. Carry out hydraulic cylinder refurbishment and repairs. Undertake pipe fitting and manipulation work. Provide onsite hydraulic engineering support across a range of customer applications. Follow all customer-specific health and safety requirements when working onsite. Provide customers with advice and guidance on the correct operation and routine maintenance of equipment. Provide telephone-based technical support to customers when required. Prepare detailed service and technical reports where necessary. Develop and maintain field troubleshooting guides and techniques. Provide technical direction, support and mentorship to junior and fellow engineers. Contribute to the design and development of new products and services. Ensure engineering procedures are followed and high standards of product and service quality are maintained. Plan and manage your own workload to ensure work is completed efficiently and within agreed timescales. Order materials and parts in a timely manner to ensure projects and jobs progress smoothly. Attend project meetings and provide relevant updates to the wider engineering team. Maintain accurate records of work completed, parts used and service reports. Maintain vehicle spares, tools and engineering equipment in a safe, secure and tidy condition where applicable. Follow appropriate workshop health and safety procedures. Identify opportunities to improve working procedures, processes and operations. Work professionally and courteously with customers at all times. Keep up to date with relevant hydraulic and engineering product developments. Undertake other reasonable duties in support of the wider business.
