Overall Job Purpose As a Piling Operative, you will be responsible for supporting all aspects of piling operations on site. Where plant, machinery or equipment is operated, this must always be carried out safely and in full accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, site procedures and approved documentation. Main Responsibilities and Duties Maintain Controlled Exclusion Zones in accordance with the approved RAMS and Lift Plans. Assist in ensuring that the quality of all constructed works meets the agreed specification.
Where potential non-conformances are identified, report these immediately to the Works Supervisor. Carry out any other reasonable duties, tasks or work activities as directed by management. Assist with the safe rigging and setup of piling equipment. Provide support to other team members as reasonably required and instructed by management. Ensure piling operations are carried out efficiently by maintaining an adequate supply of the correct materials, tools and equipment within the work area.
Act as the nominated Banksman for plant and equipment movements when required. Ensure piles are installed within the specified tolerances and in accordance with the project requirements. Maintain a zero-tolerance approach to unsafe working practices, behaviours, conditions or defective plant and equipment. Accurately report hazards, near misses and other safety concerns at the earliest opportunity. Maintain a professional and positive Company image when dealing with clients, colleagues, contractors and other stakeholders.
Ensure the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is worn at all times. Understand and ensure that all works are undertaken strictly in accordance with the approved project-specific Method Statements, Task Sheets, Risk Assessments, Lift Plans, Inspection and Test Plans and Drawings. Check all plant and equipment delivered from the Yard to ensure it is correct, in good working condition and fit for purpose. Any deficiencies or defects must be reported immediately to the Works Supervisor.
Ensure all plant and equipment is returned to the Yard clean, in good condition, with any defects reported, and with oil and fuel levels maintained in accordance with the relevant hire conditions. Ensure all plant is fully refuelled before off-hire or collection. Assist with major servicing and repair activities as required. Concrete Pump Operators β Where Applicable Check all concrete pumping plant and associated equipment delivered from the Depot to ensure it is correct, in good condition and fit for use.
Immediately report any deficiencies or defects to the Site Foreman. Set up rigid and flexible concrete lines safely, ensuring whipchecks and concrete clamp pins are correctly fitted. Ensure all concrete lines are adequately protected from site traffic and other potential sources of damage. Prepare Primapump and manage its application in accordance with the required procedures. Safely marshal concrete delivery wagons in and around the concrete pumping setup.
Verify that each concrete delivery supplied for use is the correct mix for the specified works. Take and test concrete samples in accordance with the relevant British Standards, including slump, flow and temperature testing where required. Maintain accurate and contemporaneous field records. Only accept concrete that falls within the specified project tolerances.
Identify and report any non-conforming concrete to Site Management and await further instruction before the concrete is used or disposed of. Sample, make and cure concrete cubes in accordance with the relevant British Standards where required. Maintain accurate and contemporaneous records to ensure full traceability and ensure cube storage facilities are suitable, serviceable and properly maintained. Ensure the quality of the completed works meets the agreed specification.
Immediately report any potential non-conformances to the Works Supervisor. Operate the concrete pump, static mixer drum and concrete lines within their specified operating limits and strictly in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Never operate machinery or concrete lines where safety guards or safety devices are defective, disconnected or bypassed. Regularly inspect concrete lines for signs of damage or deterioration and report any issues to the Works Supervisor.
Understand and follow all approved safe systems and procedures for blowing out concrete lines. Complete regular daily inspections and maintenance of the concrete pump, static mixer drum, concrete lines and associated ancillary plant. Maintain appropriate records and report any defects to the Site Foreman. Keep the working area clean, tidy and organised, with suitable arrangements for the storage of fluids, oils, greases, Primapump and concreting fittings.
Maintain plant in good visual condition and prevent concrete from accumulating in hoppers, concrete drums, beneath pumps or around stabilisers. Company Responsibilities and Duties Adhere personally and as part of the wider team to established working practices, methods and procedures. Complete all relevant training and development activities and maintain a positive and adaptable approach to new or alternative systems and processes.
Take a proactive approach to Health, Safety and Environmental matters and work cooperatively with the Company's HSEQ Manager to comply with all relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation, policies and procedures. Maintain confidentiality and comply with data protection requirements and associated Company guidelines where applicable. Desired Skills, Experience and Qualifications Good knowledge of construction practices and relevant site experience. Valid CSCS Card.
Passport to Safety. CSCS Slinger Signaller qualification. MEWP qualification. CPCS Trailer Mounted Concrete Pump qualification. Hours and Working Environment Working hours: 7:30am to 6:00pm . Minimum of 50 hours per week . Due to the nature of the role and the requirements of site operations, employees are expected to demonstrate flexibility and cooperate with working outside their normal hours where reasonably required to meet changing workloads, operational requirements and site conditions.
