This is a hands-on, field-based role focused on the maintenance, servicing, and repair of a wide range of forklifts and material handling equipment, ensuring safe and reliable operations for clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintain, and repair diesel, LPG, and electric forklifts
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown repairs
- Test and commission forklifts and other material handling equipment
- Maintain accurate service and maintenance records
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and safe use of PPE
- Provide technical advice and support to clients on-site
Requirements
- Proven experience as a forklift or material handling engineer
- Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical fault-finding skills
- Experience with counterbalance, reach, and order picker forklifts
- Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and service manuals
- Full UK driving licence
- Excellent communication skills and a professional approach
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable:
- Manufacturer-specific training or accreditation
- Experience with major forklift brands (e.g., Toyota, Linde, Hyster, Crown, Still)
- NVQ or equivalent in mechanical/engineering maintenance
- Experience with heavy industrial or warehouse equipment
