Position Summary

We’re currently looking for a Residential Deputy Manager to join the team at The Sycamore in Wakefield. If you’re someone who naturally brings warmth, energy and creativity wherever you go, and you love the idea of making each day meaningful for our residents, this could be the perfect role for you.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Ensure that all staff members contribute to the efficient running of the home, and to the creation of an atmosphere conducive to the best interests of residents.
  • Support and assist the Home Manager in auditing care plan documentation to ensure best practice.
  • Maintain effective communications with the Home Manager.
  • Maintain effective communications with residents, relatives, staff members, the operations manager, divisional office and other concerned bodies in the absence of the Home Manager.
  • Obtain a report from the person in charge and advise the Home Manager regarding any incident or accident, and the status of any residents whose care or health is causing concern. Complete CQC and safeguarding alerts as required.
  • Supervise visits and liaise with GPs to establish good relationships between GPs/health care professionals and the care home.
  • Ensure a clear and concise handover report is given to all staff members.
  • Arrange or participate in staff and resident meetings as required.
  • Take responsibility for resident care as designated by the Home Manager in his or her absence and in the absence of the Deputy Home Manager.
  • Assess social and health care needs of new residents, and maintain ongoing assessment and review of all other residents.
  • Report any ill‑health among residents and make requests for GP or professional visits where necessary.
  • Ensure meals are of sufficient quantity and good quality, and that residents’ dietary needs are met.
  • Administer prescribed medicines and maintain the appropriate records in line with the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure that each resident within the home has an individualised care plan. Resident care plans to be reviewed bi‑annually or more frequently as required, in line with the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with residents’ personal and financial affairs and avoid abuse of the privileged relationship that exists with residents.

What We’re Looking For

  • Warm, approachable, and brimming with positivity.
  • Organised, reliable, and confident in leading a team.
  • Creative, enthusiastic, and able to motivate others.
  • Passionate about improving the lives of older people.
  • Able to work flexibly across some evenings and weekends.
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • NVQ level 5 (or willing to work towards this).

What We Offer

  • A friendly, supportive, and welcoming workplace.
  • Real opportunities for ongoing training and career progression.
  • A chance to make a meaningful impact in people’s lives every day.
  • A valued role within a close‑knit team that cares as much about each other as we do our residents.

Working at Highgate Care means being part of something special. You’ll enjoy the above benefits, and if you believe that kindness and compassion should be at the heart of care, we’d love to hear from you.
