An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Site Engineer to join a major highways and infrastructure project in Surrey. The role involves overseeing Site Engineers and delivering key packages including earthworks, drainage, Section 278 works, carriageway construction and associated highways infrastructure. This is a long-term contract offering excellent continuity of work on a major civil engineering scheme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor Site Engineers and junior engineering staff.
  • Supervise daily construction activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme and to specification.
  • Oversee engineering delivery across earthworks, drainage, Section 278 and carriageway works, including setting out and verification where required.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and direct labour to maintain project progress.
  • Review drawings, specifications and technical documentation, resolving engineering issues as they arise.
  • Manage QA processes including ITPs, inspections, testing, quality records and as-built documentation.
  • Produce and maintain AutoCAD as-built drawings and project handover documentation, including Health & Safety Files.
  • Order materials and monitor construction progress, identifying risks and mitigating delays.
  • Liaise with Project Managers, designers, clients, consultants and statutory authorities.
  • Maintain accurate site records, progress reports and engineering documentation.
  • Support commissioning, project handover and final project close-out.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Senior Site Engineer on highways or major civil engineering projects.
  • Strong background in earthworks, drainage, Section 278 works and carriageway construction.
  • Experience managing QA documentation, ITPs, as-built records and project handover documentation.
  • Competent with setting out and AutoCAD.
  • CSCS Gold or Black Card (essential).
  • SMSTS or SSSTS (essential).
  • Full UK driving licence preferred.
