About the Role:
We are currently looking for an experienced Sub Agent to join a high-profile highways scheme in Cambridge, working night shifts starting early May. This role is initially for 4 months with strong potential for extension, and sits inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead night shift activities, overseeing engineers and subcontractors to ensure safe and efficient delivery of works.
- Coordinate and manage site operations related to drainage and surfacing packages.
- Monitor quality, safety, and progress, ensuring works are delivered to spec and programme.
- Manage daily site documentation, including RAMS, permits, ITPs, and daily site diaries.
- Provide support and guidance to the engineering team, ensuring effective setting out and technical compliance.
- Liaise closely with the Agent, client representatives, and other key stakeholders.
- Drive a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with all H&S regulations.
Essential Experience:
- Proven experience working as a Sub Agent or experienced Senior Engineer on highways projects.
- Strong knowledge of drainage and surfacing methodologies.
- Capable of managing and coordinating teams of engineers and subcontractors.
- Experience supporting setting out operations.
- Thorough understanding of highways standards and specifications (e.g., DMRB).
- Strong communication, leadership, and organisation skills.
Desirable Qualifications/Certs:
- HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- CSCS (Black or White), SMSTS, and First Aid (desirable).
- Experience working on night shifts and complex infrastructure programmes.
