An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Site Engineer / Setting Out Engineer to join a major highways and infrastructure project in Surrey. Reporting directly to the Senior Site Engineer, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of earthworks, drainage, Section 278 works, carriageway construction and associated highways infrastructure.
This is a long-term contract offering an excellent Outside IR35 rate and genuine continuity of work on major civil engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities- Reporting to the Senior Site Engineer, assist with the day-to-day engineering delivery of the project.
- Carry out setting out, surveying and verification of construction works.
- Supervise daily site activities, ensuring works are completed safely, on programme and to specification.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Support delivery of earthworks, drainage, Section 278 and carriageway works.
- Manage QA documentation, ITPs, inspections, testing records and as-built information.
- Produce and update accurate as-built surveys and AutoCAD drawings.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and site teams to maintain programme.
- Maintain accurate site records, daily diaries and progress reports.
- Assist with project handover documentation, Health & Safety Files and commissioning activities.
- Identify and resolve engineering issues, escalating where appropriate.
- Proven experience as a Site Engineer or Setting Out Engineer on highways or major civil engineering projects.
- Strong background in earthworks, drainage, Section 278 works and carriageway construction.
- Confident using surveying equipment for setting out and as-built surveys.
- Experience with QA documentation, ITPs and AutoCAD is desirable.
- CSCS Card (essential).
- SSSTS desirable.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.
- Excellent Outside IR35 day rate, negotiable depending on experience and competency.
- Initial 6-month contract with strong potential to extend well beyond a year.
- Long-term opportunities on further major infrastructure projects in the surrounding area.
