Job Title: Site Engineer / Section Engineer Location: Adams Road, Cambridge Contract Type: Freelance – Inside IR35 Rate: £440-£460 per day Working Pattern: Full-Time, Day Shifts Start Date: 18th August 2025 Duration: Until Approx. March 2026 Project Overview: We are currently recruiting for a Site Engineer / Section Engineer to join a high-profile infrastructure scheme on Adams Road in Cambridge. This is a long-term freelance opportunity on a single site, requiring an engineer with strong quality assurance and checking capabilities-not just a setting out role. This role is ideally suited to someone experienced in overseeing engineering works, ensuring quality control, managing RFIs/TQs, and checking others\’ work on site. Key Responsibilities: Provide engineering oversight and check setting out completed by others Review, manage, and respond to Technical Queries (TQs) and Requests for Information (RFIs) Ensure quality standards are maintained across the section/site Liaise with design teams to resolve issues and clarify technical queries Assist the Sub Agent and Section Leads in delivering work to programme and spec Maintain accurate quality assurance records and site documentation Monitor subcontractor works for compliance with approved drawings and specifications Support safety and environmental compliance on site Essential Requirements: Proven experience as a Site or Section Engineer on civil infrastructure projects Competent in reviewing setting out and technical drawings Excellent knowledge of construction QA/QC processes Strong understanding of TQ/RFI processes and documentation CSCS (Engineering or Supervisory level) SSSTS/SMSTS (desirable) HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline Strong communication and documentation skills Right to work in the UK and availability for full-time, site-based work Additional Information: Freelance Contract – Inside IR35 Single site role – No multi-site movement Long-term assignment through to approx. March 2026 Rate: £440-£460/day depending on experience and qualifications
