A major infrastructure and highways project is entering a new phase, creating an excellent opportunity for an experienced Site Agent / Project Manager to join a significant residential development project in Surrey. The project represents approximately £10m-£15m of work over an initial 18-month period, with the potential for further work beyond this. The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of multiple infrastructure contracts across the development.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced highways professional with a strong background in residential roads and drainage, who is confident managing site delivery, coordinating multiple stakeholders and driving programmes forward. The project will incorporate:

  • Section 104 drainage
  • Section 38 residential roads
  • Section 278 off-site highway works
  • Multiple contracts across one major development
  • Self-delivery of works where applicable

You will take a key role in the day-to-day running and successful delivery of the works, working closely with the wider engineering and site management team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate day-to-day site operations and delivery
  • Organise road space and safe systems of work
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and site teams
  • Manage technical queries and ensure timely resolution
  • Maintain and update project programmes
  • Produce progress reports and provide regular project updates
  • Contribute to budget and commercial reporting
  • Coordinate with designers, utility providers and local authorities
  • Liaise with resident groups, ecologists and other project stakeholders
  • Ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards
  • Work closely with the Works Manager / Site Manager and engineering team
  • Act as a key point of contact across the various infrastructure packages

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience as a Site Agent, Project Manager or Senior Site Manager within highways/infrastructure
  • Strong experience delivering residential roads and sewers
  • Practical knowledge of Section 104, Section 38 and Section 278 works
  • Experience managing works from a contractor/self-delivery perspective
  • Strong understanding of highways construction, sequencing and site operations
  • Excellent programme and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to confidently deal with technical, operational and commercial issues
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate multiple parties

Candidates from a strong Tier 2 contractor background are particularly encouraged to apply. Experienced candidates from Tier 1 organisations with relevant Tier 2/self-delivery experience will also be considered.
