We are currently seeking an experienced Section Engineer to join a leading infrastructure contractor on a major highway project based in Gloucester. This is a long-term contract position working inside IR35, offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to a nationally significant transport infrastructure scheme.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate on-site engineering activities in line with project specifications and schedules
- Ensure accurate setting out and surveying of the works
- Oversee subcontractors and direct labour to ensure works are delivered safely, to quality, and on programme
- Assist in managing site documentation including ITPs, permits, risk assessments, and method statements
- Liaise with design teams, client representatives, and stakeholders to resolve technical issues
- Monitor progress and report against key project milestones
- Promote and maintain health, safety, and environmental standards on site
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Section Engineer on major highways or infrastructure projects in the UK
- Valid and in-date certifications, including: CSCS card (Engineer level or higher), SMSTS or SSSTS, First Aid at Work (Desirable)
- Strong understanding of setting out using GPS and Total Station equipment
- Knowledge of UK highways specifications and standards
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Full UK driving licence
