Are you an experienced Quality Inspector or QC Engineer with a strong civils background and active SC Clearance? We're recruiting for a long-term opportunity on a major UK infrastructure programme in Reading. This is a site-based role working on a high-profile project, offering long-term stability through to December 2026 and a competitive £50/hour rate.

The Role

You'll play a key role in ensuring quality standards are met across complex civil construction activities, carrying out inspections and supporting the successful delivery of the project. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing and accepting procedures and documentation in line with QC1 requirements.
  • Conducting quality inspections against approved Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Reviewing and accepting Lifetime Quality Records (LTRs).
  • Witnessing tests and carrying out on-site inspections.
  • Attending quality and project meetings as required.
  • Inspecting works against approved detailed designs and engineering drawings.
  • Supporting civil construction activities including reinforced concrete and structural steel installations.

We're Looking For

You'll need:

  • Current live SC Clearance (essential - candidates without active clearance cannot be considered).
  • Experience in a quality role on a major infrastructure, nuclear, defence or heavy civil engineering project.
  • Strong civils construction experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering and reinforcement drawings.
  • Experience with on-site inspections and quality documentation.
  • Knowledge of Lifetime Quality Records (LTRs).
  • CSCS Card.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with the following would be highly beneficial:
    • Concrete pours, pre-pour and post-pour inspections.
    • Reinforcement inspections.
    • Structural steel assembly and erection inspections.
    • QC1 documentation and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).

Working Pattern

Site-based in Reading. Typical working pattern is 4 x 10-hour days (Monday-Thursday) with Friday reporting, although flexibility is required to support the construction programme when needed.

What's on Offer?

£50 per hour. Outside IR35 (subject to individual assessment). Long-term contract through to December 2026. Opportunity to work on a major UK infrastructure programme. Immediate start available for candidates with active SC Clearance. Please note: Due to project requirements, live SC Clearance is mandatory. Unfortunately, applicants without current active clearance cannot be considered.
