Job Title: Quantity Surveyor Rate: £500-£550 per day (Inside IR35) Contract Length: 6 Months Start Date: ASAP Location: Hull (Hybrid Working Available) Role Purpose: We are currently seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join our highways project based in Hull. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a dynamic commercial team on a long-term infrastructure programme. The successful candidate will play a key role in the commercial delivery of the project, with particular focus on cost management, supply chain engagement, and driving value across all aspects of project delivery. Key Responsibilities: Support the maintenance of accurate contract cost reporting systems Track budgets, commitments, deviations, and produce forecasts to completion and final value Monitor and control project costs in line with original budgets Maintain comprehensive records to support compensation events and variation claims Identify, value, and agree contract variations with the client promptly Manage project cash flow and valuation plans, ensuring timely and accurate applications for payment Lead the subcontractor procurement process – including tendering, appointment, and contract management Administer and manage subcontracts throughout their lifecycle, including payment processing and change control Provide clear and accurate monthly cost/value reports for internal and client reporting Experience and Qualifications: Demonstrable experience in Quantity Surveying, ideally within highways or infrastructure projects Valid CSCS card In-depth knowledge of construction and contract law, particularly NEC and other standard forms Proven understanding of procurement, tendering, and subcontracting processes Strong commercial acumen and ability to maximise value while managing risk Skilled in quantifying and valuing construction works, with familiarity using standard methods of measurement Knowledge of insurance, bonds, and warranties relevant to construction contracts Proficiency in MS Office and commercial reporting tools Highly organised, results-driven, and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills Additional Information: This is a 6-month contract role with scope for extension Immediate start available Day rate: £500-£550/day (inside IR35) Hybrid working model: on-site in Hull with flexibility for remote work
