We are currently recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a growing infrastructure delivery team working across a range of projects within the Gatwick Airport Framework. The portfolio includes a mix of smaller schemes through to larger, more complex projects, providing an excellent opportunity for an experienced QS to take responsibility for the commercial management of multiple work packages.
The Role
The Quantity Surveyor will provide accurate, commercially focused input across projects, ensuring all commercial and contractual activities are delivered in accordance with the contract, policies and procedures. The successful candidate will work as part of an integrated project team, reporting into the Commercial Lead and working closely with project teams, subcontractors and customer representatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage accurate, timely and compliant contractual notices and correspondence
- Prepare and assess applications, valuations and cost/value reconciliations
- Manage cost control and forecasting
- Prepare monthly commercial reports covering value, cost, profit/loss, cash flow and budgets
- Prepare and agree applications for payment and/or assess and prepare payment certificates
- Assist with risk and value management to optimise project solutions
- Identify, analyse and develop responses to commercial risks
- Undertake contract management, including budgetary control and relevant commercial software
- Prepare supply chain enquiries and negotiate, administer and close out subcontract agreements
- Ensure contractual notifications and documentation are managed appropriately
- Liaise regularly with site teams, subcontractors and customer representatives
- Ensure commercial, health, safety and environmental risks are communicated to the relevant project leadership
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years' Quantity Surveying experience
- Strong commercial and financial acumen
- Proven experience working with NEC4 A&E
- Practical, logical and methodical approach
- Strong contractual and construction knowledge
- Experience preparing contractual correspondence, payment certificates and financial reports
- Experience with cost control, forecasting and commercial reporting
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of an integrated project team
- Experience with office management systems, document control and filing systems
- Ability to take technical minutes at contractual meetings and collate information for reports
- Experience using Estimate One would be advantageous.
Qualifications
- RICS/CICES accredited degree desirable
- Full RICS or CICES membership desirable
- Candidates enrolled on an approved training scheme for membership will also be considered
