Principal Civil, Structural & Architectural Engineer

Westlakes, Cumbria | Hybrid (3 Days Onsite) | £61/hour (Inside IR35) | 12+ Month Contract | SC Clearance Required

Lead the delivery of a key infrastructure refurbishment project within one of the UK's most important nuclear programmes. We're seeking an experienced Principal CS&A Engineer to take the technical lead on a major building refurbishment feasibility study at a highly regulated nuclear facility. This is an excellent opportunity to influence engineering strategy, develop innovative solutions, and work alongside multidisciplinary teams on a safety-critical project.

As the Principal Engineer, you'll lead the development of engineering options for a significant roof refurbishment programme, ensuring solutions meet technical, operational, and regulatory requirements while extending the life of an essential nuclear facility.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead the delivery of a feasibility study for a major building refurbishment project.
  • Develop and assess engineering options aligned with outline project requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance throughout the engineering lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver robust, practical engineering solutions.
  • Ensure designs comply with nuclear industry standards, safety requirements and engineering best practice.
  • Engage with key stakeholders and provide technical assurance throughout the project.

What We're Looking For

  • Over 10 years' experience influencing engineering practice and delivering complex engineering solutions.
  • Strong background in Civil, Structural & Architectural Engineering within highly regulated industries.
  • Experience leading feasibility studies, refurbishment or infrastructure upgrade projects.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and technical leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with a broad range of engineering technologies and techniques.

Clearance Requirements

  • Candidates must be eligible to work in a security-cleared environment and hold: SC Clearance P1 or P4 Pass BPSS (minimum to commence)
