Hybrid role in Warrington (3 days per week in office - Mon/Tue/Wed), with occasional visits to Sellafield Site, suppliers, and contractors. Β£55-61/hour Inside IR35.
About the Role: We are seeking an experienced SNM PES Lead Engineer to act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Programmable Electronic Systems (PES) across the SNM project portfolio. This key role will see you delivering PES projects from concept through to handover, ensuring all deliverables meet Sellafield Ltd's high standards of quality, safety, and compliance. You will work closely with Senior/Responsible Engineers, operators, maintainers, safety case managers, and the wider Integrated Project Team (IPT) to define requirements, manage stakeholders, and deliver complex PES solutions. The role also involves overseeing supply chain delivery, verifying and validating technical outputs, and managing internal PES resources.

- North Transfers Project - PMF Can database, Workstation/CEF operations desk, EMS SMR, Security SMR
- PPF System 280 & 260 (PLC/HMI)
- Containment Vessel Release Tools - Drilling and Off Gas Management
- SGV Replacement Project
- FL6 PCM Package Monitor (IPES - Radiometric & Specialist Instrumentation)
- EDS Task 11 BMS (PC / Engineering Support PC)
- North Stores Inspections (IPES - CCTV / Data Acquisition)
- VESU and other SNM PES initiatives
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead PES delivery across multiple projects in line with ISO 15288, SL QMS, and internal standards
- Act as the CE&I point of contact for PES aspects within projects
- Stakeholder management with operators, maintainers, OTG, construction and commissioning teams
- Collaborate with other disciplines, quality, cost control, REs & AEMs, and systems engineers
- Manage supply chain delivery and internal PES resources, ensuring quality, cost, and time compliance
- Identify and escalate technical, safety, and engineering risks as required
Essential Experience & Qualifications:
- Significant experience in PES control system requirements capture and delivery through to handover
- Proven delivery in line with ISO/IEC 15288 or equivalent
- Familiarity with industrial cybersecurity standards (e.g., BS 62443)
- Experience with V-Model processes and PES lifecycle deliverables
- Ability to perform site visits to validate client requirements
- Experience managing PES deliverables and people across project lifecycles
- Supply chain management experience (NEC3 or equivalent)
- Minimum 5 years in roles with PES/system design lifecycle responsibility
- At least 3 years in regulated/quality-assured environments (preferably nuclear)
- Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of nuclear legislative and regulatory environment (NIA, SLCs, HASAWA, EWR, IRR)
- Degree in relevant discipline and professional registration (minimum IEng, e.g., IET, IoP, InstMC)
Desirable Experience & Qualifications:
- Experience delivering in accordance with Sellafield Ltd Enterprise Management System
- Familiarity with Sellafield PES delivery lifecycle, gated project lifecycle, and tools such as HAZOPS, MFDs, S&IDDs, SIDs, URS packages, CONCISE
- Existing P1/P4 pass and Sellafield IT holder
- Experience with AutoCAD 2D, MS Office, Cimage, AVEVA, or similar tools
- D03760 & D03770 awareness within last 3 years
- Industrial Cyber Security certification (CyBOK, SANS/QA)
- City & Guilds 2382 BS 7671 knowledge
