Role Overview
A leading manufacturing company in South Wales is seeking a highly experienced Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager to support a landmark Electric Arc Converter project. This is a high-profile EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) heavy engineering initiative with a focus on M&E systems.
The successful candidate will provide commercial oversight, cost management, and contract administration for a complex engineering project, ensuring effective management of NEC contracts, budgets, and risk throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the lead M&E commercial representative on a high-value EPC heavy engineering project.
- Manage and monitor project budgets, cost reporting, forecasting, and financial risk.
- Administer NEC contracts, including assessing claims, variations, and change control processes.
- Provide commercial guidance to the project team and stakeholders.
- Support procurement and subcontractor management from a commercial perspective.
- Ensure compliance with project governance and reporting standards.
- Collaborate closely with on-site project managers, engineers, and the wider commercial team.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience: 15-20 years in a commercial or quantity surveying role within M&E, with a strong background in EPC heavy engineering (nuclear, oil & gas, heavy process manufacturing).
- Qualifications: RICS Chartered or equivalent formal qualification in an M&E environment preferred.
- Contract Knowledge: Demonstrable experience working under NEC contracts.
- Technical Bias: Strong Mechanical, Electrical, or combined M&E focus.
- Availability: Immediate or within one month.
- Work Pattern: Minimum 4 days per week on-site in South Wales, 1-day working remotely
Contract & Remuneration
- Daily Rate: 600 per day (all-inclusive)
- Contract Type: Contingent worker, inside IR35.
- Duration: Expected project completion in 2027.
