We are working with a Tier 1 highways contractor to recruit an experienced Schemes Supervisor to support the delivery of highway improvement, maintenance and road renewal schemes across London. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy programme of works with an established contractor, offering an immediate start and the chance to work across a variety of live highways projects.
As Schemes Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day site activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with programme requirements. Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing Method Statements, Risk Assessments and Construction Phase Plans
- Monitoring construction programmes and coordinating with contractors, clients and local authorities
- Managing permits, approvals and permitting requirements
- Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with approved designs and specifications
- Maintaining accurate daily site records, including labour, plant and photographic records
- Supporting the resolution of site and construction issues
- Monitoring health, safety and environmental compliance across site
- Inspecting Traffic Management layouts and ensuring Chapter 8 compliance
- Producing site documentation, inductions, POWRAs and daily briefings
- Carrying out weekly safety inspections and attending safety meetings
- Providing information to support compensation events and early warning notices
- Assisting with as-built records and Health & Safety file completion
What we're looking for:
- Previous highways construction experience is essential
- Strong knowledge of the Specification for Highway Works
- Experience supervising multiple contractors and coordinating live works
- Good understanding of NEC3 contracts, including Construction Variations (CVIs)
- Knowledge of Traffic Management and Chapter 8 requirements
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Temporary Works Supervisor or Temporary Works Co-ordinator
- CSCS Card
- SMSTS or NRSWA qualification
