Commissioning Engineer (EC&I) - Sellafield Site
Location: Sellafield, Cumbria
Pay: Up to £50 per hour (Inside IR35)
Contract: Full-time, site-based (4 on 4 off rotation or standard site hours)
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Until June 2026
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer (EC&I) to join the team at Sellafield. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient commissioning of control, instrumentation, and electrical systems within one of the UK's most complex and highly regulated industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Witness and verify vendor testing at works test stage.
- Prepare plant commissioning test specifications.
- Conduct early inspections of site installations to support timely system handovers.
- Execute testing activities during the Integrated Plant Commissioning phase.
- Identify faults, propose solutions, and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate commissioning technicians and support resources.
- Initiate and manage Field Observation Books (FOBs).
- Validate working-level instructions and ensure accurate application and removal of temporary commissioning aids.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience in nuclear EC&I systems commissioning.
- Background in highly regulated industries - nuclear experience essential, Sellafield experience preferable.
- Minimum HNC/HND in an Engineering discipline (or equivalent).
- Competent in Microsoft Office and Excel-based calculations.
- Familiarity with project management principles (APM membership desirable).
- IOSH Working or Managing Safely, SMSTS or SSSTS, and valid ECS Supervisory Card required.
- Must be able to obtain BPSS security clearance.
