We are seeking an experienced Head of Engineering to lead and inspire our clients multi-disciplinary engineering teams. Reporting to senior leadership, you will be responsible for driving engineering excellence, promoting innovation, and ensuring delivery aligns with the organisation's strategic objectives.
This is a high-profile leadership role with responsibility for engineering capability, talent development, process optimisation, compliance, and client engagement. The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with outstanding people leadership and business acumen.
Key Responsibilities- Business Leadership
- Act as a senior member of the leadership team, promoting cross-functional collaboration and strategic alignment.
- Support the development and delivery of business objectives and engineering plans.
- Champion diversity, equity, inclusion, and professional integrity across the organisation.
- Engineering Leadership
- Lead and mentor multi-disciplinary engineering teams across all business areas.
- Promote high standards of performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Drive leadership development initiatives to nurture future engineering talent.
- Innovation & Technology
- Encourage a culture of practical, value-focused innovation.
- Evaluate and implement engineering ideas aligned to business strategy.
- Ensure consistency and effective use of engineering software and tools.
- Resource Management & Talent Development
- Maintain and develop core engineering expertise and subject matter experts.
- Own recruitment, training plans, competency frameworks, and succession planning.
- Oversee allocation of engineering resources to projects and ensure continuity of capability.
- Process Optimisation & Compliance
- Lead continuous improvement of engineering processes, standards, and templates.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and risk management processes.
- Maintain engineering risk registers and proactively manage project risks.
- Business Development Support
- Act as a technical point of contact for client engagement and bid activities.
- Contribute to technical proposals, presentations, and client-facing materials.
- Represent the organisation professionally at industry events and client meetings.
- Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent in an Engineering/Technical discipline - Essential
- 5+ years in a senior engineering role within a highly regulated industry - Essential
- 5+ years of engineering management experience - Essential

- Proven senior leadership in engineering or technical environments.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and communicate priorities clearly.
- Experience in risk management, compliance, governance, and assurance processes.
- Exposure to business development, bid preparation, and client relationship management.
- Broad engineering knowledge with experience in complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clear, concise advice to senior leaders.
