We are recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer to join a Tier 1 contractor delivering a public realm improvement scheme in the centre of Harwich, Essex. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with highways or public realm experience to work in a principal contractor role, supporting the successful delivery of a high-profile infrastructure project.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Site Agent and Foreman, overseeing quality management and engineering assurance while liaising with the client's design team and the principal subcontractor responsible for setting out.
Key Responsibilities- Managing quality assurance throughout the project, including ITPs and engineering checks.
- Reviewing and verifying subcontractor setting out and engineering activities.
- Managing Technical Queries (TQs) and Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Working closely with the client's designers to resolve technical issues.
- Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with project specifications and quality standards.
- Coordinating client quality inspections and obtaining sign-off.
- Raising and managing NCRs where required.
- Carrying out surveying duties and engineering verification.
- Supporting the Site Agent and Foreman with day-to-day site delivery.
- Previous experience as a Site Engineer on highways, public realm or civil engineering projects.
- Strong understanding of quality management processes, including ITPs and engineering inspections.
- Experience managing TQs, RFIs and NCRs.
- Ability to interpret drawings and specifications and ensure compliance on site.
- Competent in surveying and engineering verification.
- Experience working for a principal contractor or Tier 1 contractor is desirable.
- Valid CSCS Card.
