Overview
About the Project: Join the Asset Care Project Delivery team, supporting the Mechanical asset care portfolio, with an initial focus on the WVP Compressor Project. This is a key role delivering high-quality mechanical design solutions that ensure operational safety, compliance, and reliability across a range of critical projects.
Role
- Produce engineering design work packages including specifications, drawings, analyses, verification, and assessments that meet legal, functional, and performance requirements.
- Ensure designs are delivered on time, within cost, and to the agreed quality standards.
- Work closely within a multi-disciplinary design team, collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Contribute to mechanical design of piping systems, machinery, and mechanical handling systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and legislation.
- Support the integration of designs into operational facilities, providing clear documentation and advice throughout the project lifecycle.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Experience working in a highly regulated industry, preferably nuclear.
- Proven ability to deliver safe, fit-for-purpose, integrated mechanical designs.
- Qualified and experienced Aveva E3D user.
- Mechanical design expertise in piping systems (ASME B31.3, PER, PSSR) and machinery/mechanical handling (Supply of Machinery Regulations, LOLER, PUWER).
- Producing design deliverables such as technical reports, drawings/layouts, installation method statements, and risk assessments.
- Familiarity with British and ISO Standards.
- Ability to liaise with stakeholders across all levels and disciplines.
- Experience in multi-disciplinary, integrated design teams.
Essential Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (minimum 2 years' design delivery experience) OR HNC/HND with 5+ years design delivery experience.
- Training/qualifications in AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, and Autodesk Vault.
Desirable Experience
- Experience in an asset care delivery function on operational facilities, supporting implementation during construction, installation, or commissioning.
- Familiarity with Sellafield Practices, Processes, Engineering Standards, and Engineering Guides.
- Experience responding to Engineering Queries (EQs) and Fault Observations (FOs).
