Located in a 16,500 sq ft facility in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, the company services and repairs any gearbox up to 20 tonnes providing end-to-end services including gear manufacturing, CNC machining, and metal spray shaft regrinding. Recognised nationally and internationally for their technical expertise and quality service, Highfield Gears is committed to rapid response and around-the-clock support.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Gearbox Fitter at our Huddersfield facility. The Gearbox Fitter will be responsible for assembling, disassembling, and repairing various types of gearboxes. Daily tasks include inspecting gear components, diagnosing faults, cleaning and assembling parts, and ensuring repair quality. The role also involves collaboration with the CNC department and other teams to ensure seamless operations and maintaining necessary documentation of work performed.
Qualifications
- Experience in mechanical fitting, particularly with gearboxes, gear components, and related machinery
- Strong fault diagnosis and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals
- Experience in using various tools and machinery for fitting and repair tasks
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures
- Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering or a related field
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including on-call rotation
