Director of Operations

A new opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dynamic Director of Operations/COO to join a growing organisation focused on later living development and operations backed by a US private equity firm. As a key member of the leadership team, you will drive operational excellence, scalability, and profitability across the business, ensuring the successful delivery of every development across the country.

This fast-moving organisation is part of a unique offering in the later living sector, service-led developments that promote independence and community. With a strong pipeline of projects with all sites acquired ready for development and redevelopment, there is a significant role to be delivered.

The Role

Reporting to the MD of the PE company, you will be instrumental in scaling operations, optimising efficiency, and delivering quality finished later living homes. Your leadership will be pivotal in shaping strategy, enhancing customer experience, and driving commercial success.

Key Responsibilities

1. Oversee all aspects of operations, development, and service delivery, ensuring exceptional standards across multiple sites.
2. Lead cross-functional teams, including construction, facilities, customer experience, and onsite leisure and retail, to ensure seamless integration and efficiency.
3. Develop and implement scalable processes and operational frameworks to support rapid growth.
4. Work closely with the private equity stakeholders to drive profitability and operational performance.
5. Ensure developments are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
6. Champion a culture of innovation, customer service, and excellence.
7. Drive strategic partnerships and key supplier relationships to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
8. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements within the sector.

The Ideal Candidate

1. A proven COO, Director of Operations, or senior operational leader with experience in later living, hospitality, and housebuilding.
2. A track record of scaling operations within a PE-backed or high-growth environment.
3. Strong experience in multi-site operational leadership and service-led real estate.
4. Commercially astute with a deep understanding of P&L, investment returns, and operational efficiencies.
5. Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and change management skills.
6. Passionate about delivering outstanding environments and experiences.
