R&D Technician
We are currently recruiting for an R&D Technician to join a busy engineering environment, supporting Research & Development, New Product Introduction and Manufacturing teams.
This is a varied technical role involving the testing and characterisation of capacitors and other electronic components. You will provide hands-on technical support to engineering projects, assist with the development of new test methods and processes, and ensure work is carried out in accordance with relevant industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with R&D and NPI Engineering teams
- Carry out assembly and testing in accordance with written procedures and recognised standards
- Undertake testing including capacitance, insulation resistance, voltage proof, ESR, life testing, humidity testing, bend testing and destructive physical analysis
- Carry out controlled high-voltage testing where required; appropriate PPE and training will be provided
- Support the development of new test methods and processes
- Carry out failure analysis
- Produce detailed technical reports
- Complete work and projects to agreed schedules
- Write procedures and work instructions
- Provide technical input into R&D and NPI projects
- Support the development and improvement of processes
- Provide training where required
- Undertake other reasonable duties as required
- The source specification also specifically includes laboratory/electronic test equipment experience as desirable and highlights Excel as being used extensively.
Skills & Experience
- Good standard of Mathematics and English
- A science or engineering background would be advantageous
- Experience using laboratory or electronic test equipment would be advantageous
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Competent with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, as well as Word, Outlook and OneNote
