We are seeking a skilled Research and Development (R&D) Technician to join our team, supporting global engineering functions. This role is essential in testing and characterising capacitors and other electronic components, working closely with our R&D, New Product Introduction (NPI), and Manufacturing teams.
Based at my Client's R&D Centre in Norwich, you will contribute to the development of multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC) and other electronic components, collaborating with my Client's global manufacturing sites. This position plays a key role in providing technical support for R&D projects while ensuring compliance with industry standards, including the IATF 16949 automotive standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with global R&D and NPI Engineering teams.
- Conduct assembly and testing following written procedures and global standards.
- Perform tests such as capacitance, insulation resistance, voltage proof, ESR, life testing (HALT), humidity testing (HAST), bend testing, and DPA (Destructive Physical Analysis).
- Handle high-voltage testing in a controlled environment (PPE and training provided).
- Contribute to R&D activities for developing new test methods and processes.
- Conduct failure analyses and report findings.
- Prepare detailed technical reports and documentation.
- Develop and improve procedures, work instructions, and testing processes.
- Provide training and technical support where required.
- Ensure tasks are completed to agreed schedules.
- Carry out other duties as reasonably required.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong mathematics and English skills.
- A science or engineering background is advantageous.
- Experience with laboratory and electronic test equipment is beneficial.
