The Role: As a Construction Accounts Assistant, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day financial operations. You will handle standard bookkeeping alongside sector-specific duties, with a strong focus on project costing and managing subcontractor payments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable: Process and match supplier and subcontractor invoices against purchase orders and delivery notes.
- Project Costing: Allocate material, plant hire, and labour costs to the correct project codes to ensure precise job costing.
- Payment Runs: Prepare weekly or monthly payment runs for subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring retentions are tracked and applied correctly.
- Reconciliations: Perform regular bank and supplier statement reconciliations, resolving any discrepancies quickly.
What We Are Looking For:
- Minimum 1β2 years of experience in an accounts assistant or bookkeeping role within the construction sector (preferred).
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero / Sage 50 / Sage 200 and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Studying towards or holding an AAT qualification (desirable).
