About Us: Our client is an established organisation within the construction and development sector, providing comprehensive project solutions for a diverse portfolio of clients. The Role: As a Construction Accounts Assistant, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day financial operations. You will handle standard bookkeeping alongside sector-specific duties, with a strong focus on project costing and managing subcontractor payments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Payable: Process and match supplier and subcontractor invoices against purchase orders and delivery notes.
  • Project Costing: Allocate material, plant hire, and labour costs to the correct project codes to ensure precise job costing.
  • Payment Runs: Prepare weekly or monthly payment runs for subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring retentions are tracked and applied correctly.
  • Reconciliations: Perform regular bank and supplier statement reconciliations, resolving any discrepancies quickly.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in an accounts assistant or bookkeeping role within the construction sector (preferred).
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero / Sage 50 / Sage 200 and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Studying towards or holding an AAT qualification (desirable).
