Fabrication Department Supervisor We are recruiting for an experienced Fabrication Department Supervisor to join a busy engineering and manufacturing operation. This is a hands-on supervisory role, taking responsibility for the day-to-day running of the fabrication department, with a particular focus on brazing processes, production performance, quality, safety and team development. You will lead and support a team of skilled operatives, ensuring production targets are achieved while maintaining high standards of workmanship, organisation and health & safety. Key Responsibilities Supervise daily fabrication and brazing activities across the department. Plan and manage workloads to ensure production schedules and deadlines are achieved. Allocate work according to employee skills and experience while supporting ongoing development. Manage day-to-day operational issues including staff availability, material shortages and equipment breakdowns. Ensure engineering drawings, routings and work instructions are available and followed correctly. Provide clear direction, feedback and support to team members. Address performance issues, workplace conflict and behavioural concerns professionally and promptly. Help develop employees through training, coaching and performance reviews. Ensure fabricated and brazed products meet required engineering and quality standards. Identify and reject non-conforming products and work closely with the Quality team to resolve issues. Drive continuous improvement across fabrication methods, brazing processes and departmental workflows. Maintain high standards of housekeeping and ensure 5S principles are followed. Promote and enforce a strong health & safety culture across the department. Work closely with other supervisors and management to maintain effective production across the wider operation. About You We are looking for someone with previous supervisory, team leader or production leadership experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment. Experience within fabrication, mechanical engineering or brazing would be highly advantageous, although candidates with strong transferable manufacturing leadership experience will also be considered. Ideally, you will have: Previous experience supervising or leading a manufacturing or engineering team. Knowledge of fabrication and/or brazing processes. An understanding of brazing techniques, equipment and basic metallurgy. The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions. Strong organisational and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and people-management skills. The confidence to manage performance issues and make day-to-day operational decisions. A quality-focused approach with a strong commitment to health & safety. A proactive attitude towards continuous improvement.
