Due to ongoing growth, we are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead a complex operational site handling specialist waste treatment, recycling, and resource recovery activities.

As Operations Manager, you will take full responsibility for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the facility. You will lead multiple operational teams, drive performance improvements, and ensure all activities are delivered in line with environmental, health and safety, and quality standards. You will play a key role in developing operational strategy, improving site performance, managing assets and maintenance programmes, and fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage day-to-day site operations to ensure safe and efficient performance.
- Drive a strong health, safety, and environmental culture across all operational activities.
- Monitor and improve operational KPIs, productivity, quality, and cost performance.
- Coordinate multiple operational disciplines to ensure consistent delivery and performance.
- Manage asset reliability and maintenance programmes, including planned preventative maintenance.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Kaizen methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with environmental permits, ISO standards, and management systems.
- Work closely with internal departments, suppliers, contractors, and external stakeholders.
- Oversee operational projects, change management activities, and process improvements.
- Develop and mentor operational teams through training, coaching, and performance management.
- Support workforce planning, recruitment, succession planning, and employee development.
Candidate Profile
Essential
- Proven experience as an Operations Manager, Plant Manager, Production Manager, or similar leadership role.
- Strong operational leadership experience within manufacturing, processing, recycling, waste management, or other industrial environments.
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance.
- Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and Kaizen methodologies.
- Experience managing maintenance programmes and operational assets.
- Strong people leadership, coaching, and performance management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Desirable
- Experience within waste management, hazardous waste, recycling, or environmental services.
- WAMITAB COTC Hazardous Waste Treatment and/or Transfer qualification.
- Degree qualified or equivalent.
- Experience driving behavioural safety and cultural change initiatives.
