Higham Ferrer's Surgery is a friendly, supportive, semi-rural village practice with approximately 6,000 patients.

We are currently looking to recruit a part-time enthusiastic and motivated Receptionist/Admin to join our team on a part-time contract, 25 hours per week. This role is a 5 hour working day, applicants must be available to work between the hours of 8am to 6:30pm, Monday to Friday.

The clinical team currently consists of 3 GP partners, 1 salaried GP, a Clinical Pharmacist, 3 Registrars, 1 Nurse Practitioner, 1 staff nurse, and a health care assistant. We also have an experienced and supportive Management and Administrative team.

Job responsibilities

  • Reception Duties: Front of House. Taking Queries and answering the phones.
  • Admin Duties: Coding, Recalling, Scanning as per the business needs.
  • Opening up/locking up of practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with practice protocols.
  • Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointments system.
  • Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations, and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional.
  • Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail.
  • Taking messages and passing on information.
  • Filing and retrieving paperwork.
  • Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines.
  • Ordering, re-ordering and monitoring of stationery and other supplies.

Person Specification

  • Experience: Experience with working within a public facing role. Ideally working within primary care, however not essential.
