We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Practice Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team at High Street Surgery in Cheslyn Hay. Our well-established practice includes 2 GP Partners, 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 1 Practice Nurse, 1 Healthcare Assistant, 1 Phlebotomist, and a dedicated administrative team. Main duties of the job
The Practice Nurse will provide high-quality, patient-centred care across a wide range of clinical services. Duties include:
- Managing long-term conditions such as diabetes, asthma, and hypertension.
- Carrying out baby and adult immunisations, travel vaccinations, cervical screening (smears), and performing routine swabs and wound care.
- Conducting patient assessments and delivering evidence-based treatments.
- Maintaining accurate and contemporaneous clinical records.
- Supporting infection prevention and control measures.
- Ensuring stock levels and clinical supplies are maintained.
- Contributing to the smooth running of the surgery.
- Working collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary team.
- Participating in audit and quality improvement initiatives.
- Helping develop and maintain safe, efficient, and patient-focused services.

Job responsibilities
The Practice Nurse will provide high-quality, patient-centred care, supporting both patients and the wider clinical team. This role offers the opportunity to deliver a broad range of nursing services within a collaborative, supportive environment while contributing to professional development and service improvement.
Main Duties
- Deliver holistic patient care including chronic disease management (Asthma, COPD, Diabetes) and opportunistic assessments.
- Carry out cervical cytology (smears) and manage Open Exeter returns.
- Perform routine swabs, wound care, sutures and clip removal, venepuncture, and minor illness assessment.
- Administer childhood, adult, catch-up, and travel vaccinations, providing comprehensive travel health advice.
- Conduct contraceptive and health checks, offering lifestyle advice and facilitating behaviour change.
- Support minor procedures and assist with minor surgery.
- Maintain accurate clinical records according to NMC guidance.
- Ensure infection prevention and control, including PPE management, hand hygiene, and sterile environments.
- Monitor and maintain clinical stock and equipment, including refrigeration and emergency equipment.
- Contribute to practice audit, quality improvement, and compliance with QOF standards.
- Participate in training, clinical supervision, and ongoing professional development.
Essential Qualifications
- Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Council registration.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development and NMC revalidation compliance.
- Safeguarding Level 3 training (Adults).
