The High School of Dundee is seeking to appoint a well-qualified, enthusiastic, and effective Teacher of Business Education to join a friendly, committed, and high-performing department. The post is full-time and permanent. We welcome applications from newly qualified teachers wishing to complete their probationary year with us and achieve full GTCS registration. This opportunity would also suit experienced teachers looking for a new challenge and those that are newly qualified.
An ability to teach Business Management is essential, with candidates who can also teach Economics encouraged to apply. It is expected that the successful candidate will possess:
- Experience of teaching Business Management at all levels (Higher Business Management is essential)
- A willingness to deliver all levels of Economics β comfortable to take on an N5 Economics class, with guidance and support provided
- An ability to create a motivating learning environment and deliver the curriculum taking account of individual pupil needs
- A high level of initiative, motivation and drive
- A passion for sharing professional learning and lesson ideas with colleagues in and outside of the department
- An ability to work effectively as part of a team, be adaptable, and communicate well both orally and in writing
- An ability to work to deadlines
- Competence in the use of ICT and its application to learning and teaching
- An interest and willingness to help organise and deliver departmental co-curricular activities, including trips and visits
The successful applicant must be driven and have both enthusiasm for, and a dynamic approach to, teaching. Good verbal and written communication skills, including ICT skills, are essential, as is the ability to interact positively with colleagues and parents.

The Department has three classrooms, each with their own SmartBoard and Apple TV. All staff within the Department are provided with a laptop which connects to the SmartBoard via a docking system. All Senior Years pupils have an iPad to support their learning.
The Department consists of a Head of Department and two full-time teachers. We teach an exciting and dynamic Enterprise course to all Form 1 and 2 pupils; thereafter, pupils can select Business Management and/or Economics as part of eight National 5 subjects studied across Forms 3 and 4. Many pupils then choose to continue onto the Higher course in Form 5, with Advanced Highers in Form 6. Others opt to do a one-year Higher course in Forms 5 or 6.
The School requires all newly appointed staff to undertake a check with the Scottish Criminal Records Office in line with the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. Offers of employment are conditional upon satisfactory registration with the PVG Scheme.
